How to purchase wholesale beef:

Like a cowboy putting that first ride on a young horse, hold on 'til the end!

When you buy beef from ML Brand Beef you are buying a live beef steer or heifer directly from our family ranch. This means you are guaranteed an animal that is handpicked by our expert cowboys to be a premium eating experience because it has been bred, fed and cared for to the highest degree possible by the same team its entire life.

Your beef animal is purchased on a per pound basis based on its weight at time of butcher — heifers and steers average 1,300 lb. and 1,400 lb., respectively. Because each animal is unique and subsequently has a unique weight, exact cost is calculated after the final weight is taken.

Pounds of freezer beef will vary with the animal but our averages are in this range:

Whole beef: 500-550 lb.

Half beef: 250-275 lb.

Quarter beef: 100-140 lb.

Steps to buying beef:

1. Enter your contact information.

2. Select quantity and butcher (only guaranteed for beef to be sent to selected butcher if         purchasing whole beef)

3. Submit information.

4. Pay $100 non-refundable deposit to secure your beef.

5. Once your beef animal is ready, we will contact you with butcher date and butcher company information.

6. On the day of butcher, your beef animal will be weighed on our certified scale located at ML Brand Beef feedlot.

7. From this weight your final cost will be calculated. You will be emailed an invoice for the existing amount of your selected beef quantity.

Area butchers typically hang carcasses for 1-2 week(s) before breaking them down into retail cuts. Expect a call from your butcher and be prepared to give them instructions for how you would like your beef cut. See our blog for help with cutting instructions.

Once the beef has been cut, wrapped and frozen your butcher will call you for pick up.

At time of beef pick up, be prepared to pay your butcher for cutting and wrapping your meat. They will have an invoice for you.

Enjoy your premium ML Brand Beef.

How to calculate final cost of beef on a per pound basis:

Total animal cost = (ML Brand Beef animal X $1.75/lb.) - $100 non-refundable deposit.

Total butcher cost = Hang weight (carcass weight after the head, hide, legs and organs are removed) X butcher cut/wrap rate.

Total cost of beef/lb. = (total animal cost + total butcher cost)/total pounds beef.

Example ¼ beef cost:

1,300 lb. live beef / 4 = 325 lb. or a ¼ of animal

325 lb. X $1.75 = $568 animal cost - $100 deposit = $468 owed to ML Brand Beef

715 lb. hang weight / 4 = 179 lb. hang weight X $0.75/lb. butcher rate = $134 owed to butcher

      $568 + $134 = $702 / 130 lb. of cut/wrap meat = $5.40/lb.
